T 13: Homemaker Jobs I Hate

This is my 6th posting, I think. This list really isn't about jobs I hate, although some are. This is more my least favorite jobs. I don't mind much about homemaking, but there are a few things I could do without..........

13 Homemaker Jobs I Hate

  1. Handwashing dishes. (Why can't my family eat off barely rinsed dishes? Really, what's the big deal? lol!) Ok, this job I LOATHE. I have said for years that I would rather lick a toilet clean than wash dishes by hand.

  2. Scrubbing baseboards. These seem to get dirty before I put the rag away.

  3. Dusting the plant shelf. When will a contractor design a plant shel that is self dusting?

  4. Putting laundry away. I like washing laundry, but putting it away seems so redundant for some reason.

  5. Cleaning up vomit. Ya know, the target isn't that tiny. there really is no need for messy sickness. Get with the program. Ok little funny here...One time my oldest, when he was about 10, got sick all through a hallway in our home. Instead of cleaning it up, I did the Big Daddy and placed newspaper on top and never went to that part of the house until after the hubby returned and took care of it. Weak stomach I guess. Thanks be to the Lord above that I have a really understanding hubby.

  6. Removing stains from carpets. I always seem to just spread them out into a thin discoloration. I can't wait til we are able to gt rid of all our carpet.

  7. Cleaning under the bathroom sink. If you want to see what a slacker I am, just go under there. I dare you.

  8. Cleaning off my desk. This is THE biggest hotspot in my home. I love my desk clean, but it only stays that way for 3-4 hrs.

  9. Cleaning the sliders. The moment I finish this task, the fingerprints are fast back in the same place. My kids don't even give me time to admire the windows.

  10. Dusting the air vents. If I have to climb on a chair to clean something, it is not on my priority list.

  11. Wiping the toilet rim. If boys can't hit the water without splashing all about, why can't they just sit down like women? If you must be manly and stand up, please wipe the rim when you are finished. It's like a dog marking it's territory.

  12. Scrubbing shower floors. It's awkward, uncomfortable, and just plain nasty.

  13. Re-organizing my pantry. I do not know whay I don't like this task, because I love to prganize. Maybe it's because it is so time consuming. Or maybe, just maybe it is because the builder put wire closet shelves in there so every bottle, box, and bag tips or falls through. Aaargh!

These are my thoughts.

It isn't putting the laundry away for me...it's the folding of it. I hate the folding of laundry...just drives me batty.

I also hate making beds, so I don't...I sleep with a blanket on top of my bed. It might be lazy, but it might also be genius.

My TT is up...come on over, it's lonely!

I hate all of those jobs...so I negotiated with my husband before we got married that I would always have a cleaning lady. If it came down to it, I would miss a car payment rather than not have the money to pay the cleaning lady. I was lamenting the disorganized (and dangerous with things falling on my head every time I opened the door) tupperware pantry...and in a moment of brilliance asked the cleaning lady if she could organize it for me. It's FABULOUS now!

She does laundry, but it's only once a week, so there's always more to do and there's always at least one person (son, daughter or husband) saying, "Where's my..." in the morning.

I am so with you on those! The dishes, the vomit, the toilet - ugh! I love doing laundry and hanging it out on the line. I just wish it would magically fold itself and get put away.

Great list! LOL! Made me laugh. Seems like we have lots in common.

I have to say though, that with four bathrooms, I only one, mine! The girls do theirs. The boys do theirs, ah... with supervision. They also have to change their clothes and bathe after they clean their bathroom. Enough said! LOL!

As for baseboards... you mean they aren't suppose to be gray? hee hee hee...

I am so with you on the laundry. If I don't put them away on laundry day we end up working out of the laundry basket all week.

Happy TT
Be well and enjoy the day

Amen! Those are all bad jobs. Laundry multiplies, off in the dark by itself. I had one of those hall vomit incidents, years ago. I was scrubbing on the carpet for weeks.

Thanks for visiting my TT--

I'm right there with you on everything until the licking the toilette. Sorry, I would rather hand wash the dishes.... And I really, really cry when the dishwasher doesn't work "Why does God hate me?"
